School 11/14 through 11/18
I slacked off a bit in the past week and didn't post our daily homeschool. Here are some of the pictures of work that I forgot to post.
Going OK
Everything is going OK.
Nothing about living aboard is as hard as I'd imagined it would be.
The boat needs more maintenance than I'd thought it would.
We need a lot more dinghy than we've got in order to actually go anywhere.
We went outside the inlet last Sunday and it was the most exciting ride I've ever had in a boat. Large standing and breaking waves in all different directions. Looking up at the bow one moment and then ducking from the spray it makes coming back down the next.
Good times!

Boating and Blanket Making
We took Lark out again this morning, and it went well. I drove her out, and Jacob brought her back into the slip. Again, we missed it on the first approach. Jacob made an amazing standing turn though, as if it was nothing and then backed it right back in.
It looks like our fridge is broken. At first we thought it was just getting accidentally switched off, but when the problem persisted, we called in our go-to fridge guy Jim. It looks like we have a coolant leak. We just replaced the entire refrigeration unit, and we were hoping that would be the end of it, but I guess not. Oh well. While we wait for the parts to come in we are using it like a cooler, and just adding ice to it every day. It is pretty tricky digging through the ice as you root around the pit. Needless to say we have been eating out a little more lately.
We had some cool weather last weekend, where our one cozy blanket was not enough. I had to cover the girls with towels too so they could sleep. It was actually lovely, and made us feel like we had a little taste of real fall. The weather inspired us to make some fleece blankets. It was a project our sweet neighbor Linda suggested. Linda went with us and girls picked out their own fabrics, and then cut and tied some custom blankets for their berths. They loved it! Now we are ready for those semi-chilly winter nights!

School 11/6/2014
Audrey read us Amy Wild and the lost treasure. We finished my fathers dragon, and jacob read aloud from King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table.
She did her spelling test on adding prefixes and completed two math facts worksheets

Trick or Treat
I was a little worried that Halloween would be a little bit of a let down this year not being in Colorado where we knew about all of the events, and always had friends to trick or treat with, but it was not at all!
Last weekend we went up to Melbourne to Boo at the Zoo with our cousins. We all had a blast! The most talked about part was the train around the zoo that included a pirate encounter! Lorelei was pretty worried they were going to take all of her candy!

Our new friend Linda, two boats down, organized a marina wide trick-or-treat event for us on Halloween night! She had a list of boats for us to stop at and we hit the whole marina (I think she might have even supplied some of our stops with the candy!) Some people who weren't expecting us gave things like bags of chips, apples, grapes, and granola bars. My favorite was if Lorelei said trick-or-treat to someone that didn't have an offering she would give them one of her pieces of candy. We called it the 'reverse trick-or-treat'. The girls got lots of attention, and that really made their night.
We finished up with a nice dinner at the marina restaurant where Audrey decided to sort all of her candy while we waited for our food.
